Psy does not appear to be a one-hit wonder. The South Korean rapper's follow up to "Gangnam Style" has had a very impressive debut, tying the record for quickest-to-reach-100-million-views.
"Gentleman," released April 13, hit 100 million views in three days, tying the record of the Russian meteor from February, according to researcher Visible Measures. "The speed with which the Russian Meteor video acquired views was quite astonishing at the time," Visible Measures writes on its blog. "But it made sense because the news story relied on user-uploaded videos of the meteor. The speed with which Gentleman is garnering views has less to do with its newsworthiness than with viewer’s curiosity to see how PSY would follow the success of "Gangnam Style," the most viewed video of all time."
The other videos vying for the record are listed below:
In comparison, "Gangnam Style" took 44 days to reach 100 million. That video is now at 1.5 billion views and counting.
