Indian Vernacular Language content and search; does it really work

Was trying out guruji.com Indias first and foremost local language content / search engine; but looks like this entire local language thing in digital world is in its early stage; guruji failed on simple search(though there are n no of references to search criteria) :(

Was chating with abhijit of paahijein.com and aone of major discussion point was yes there is potential for local language content; but its very early stage. Like english & hindi serails and programmes were dominant with TV channels 10 years back; but now one looks at TV scenario and viewer base; regional and local languages rule this space. So will happen with online content but issue at moment is PC penetration is with people who are english savvy; if mobile turns into pc or pc manages to reach major households; demand will come and push content availability.

Now with search; algorithms and mappings are still premature; a context based search is still a disntant dream :) but yes more and more participants with more than 1 language fluency hold the key here.
