First Trailer for Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity

Gravity, the new movie from Alfonso Cuarón, best known for his sci-fi movie Children of Men, now has an official teaser trailer.

While Gravity is also a sci-fi film, its setting its vastly different from Children of Men's ugly, dystopian future Earth.

In it, two astronauts (played by Sandra Bullock and George Clooney) get stranded on a damaged space station with no communications with Earth.

In a way, the movie is an antithesis to Children of Men. There, the entire mankind is fighting for a very scarce resource, while in Gravity, the astronauts have to make do with the scarce resources in space and no connection with the rest of mankind.

The trailer focuses on the accident that leaves the astronauts struggling for survival in space, and shows little of the drama that unfolds later, but it looks to be quite a different movie than most action sci-fi flicks that are coming out this year, and we definitely don't mind the change.

Gravity will hit theaters on October 4, 2013.
